SkyTel Fax Advance
The Fax Service for Advanced Messaging subscribers

SkyTel Fax Advance lets your contacts send their faxes directly to your Personal Access Number. Your SkyWriter® unit alerts you that you have a fax waiting. SkyTel will store your document for up to 3 days. When you're ready to receive the fax, just send the command from your unit.

Forward it to any convenient fax machine or email just by entering the fax number or email address on your unit. Or a quick one-touch reply sends the fax to a default fax machine or email address.

Faxes sent via SkyTel Fax Advance are also available at the SkyTel Customer Service website. Just log in with your PIN and Security Code, and the fax is ready for your review.

Here's what you'll need:
  • SkyWriter® service
  • A SkyTel Personal Access Number (additional charge may apply)
  • A quick set-up on the SkyTel website
Here's how it works:
Your colleague needs to send you a fax. He enters your Personal Access Number on his fax machine and sends. (There are no special numbers to enter, no need to wait for a tone.)

You receive a message on your unit that a fax has been sent, the number of the sending machine, and the number of pages in the fax.

When you're ready to receive the fax, select "Reply." In addition to the standard replies, you'll also see two new choices: "Send Fax" and "Send Email." (These commands will forward the fax to the default fax machine or default email address that you've entered at the SkyTel website.)
  • Choose "Send Fax", and the fax will print out on your fax machine.
  • Choose "Send Email" and the fax will be sent to your email address.
  • Choose "Custom" and enter any fax number or email address. The fax will be forwarded immediately to this location.
