Service Options - Read Acknowledgements
Do you know if your message was Read?
All SkyTel Advanced Messaging devices automatically acknowledge message delivery. It's part of the SkyTel messaging guarantee.
Until now, though, the only way to know whether a message was actually read was if (and when) the message recipient replied. No more!

Equip your team's Advanced Messaging devices* with the Read Acknowledgements feature and you'll always know if your messages are delivered, and more importantly, if they've been read - even if your team members never send a reply.
Just send your message using one of the following methods:
When you use the SkyTel Internet, telephone, or software methods, make note of the Message Status Number (make sure to request a number when using Operator Dispatch). If you don't get a reply, you can return up to 72 hours later to see if your message has been read.
If you use standard email to send your messages, make sure you request a Read Receipt through your email options. Check your email help file or other documentation if you're not sure how to request a receipt.
Sending messages from your SkyTel 2Way device?
If you regularly use your 2Way device* to send messages, the
Delivered/Read Notifications option sends "Message Delivered" and "Message Read" notifications back to your device.
With this option, when you send a message to any SkyTel advanced messaging device, you can get a Delivered Notification. If the device also has the Read Acknowledgements feature (above), you can get a Read Notification. Notifications are delivered directly back to your device, in the same manner as replies.
The Delivered/Read Notification option for SkyTel 2Way devices can be turned on and off through your online Service Profile.
For efficiency's sake, SkyTel consolidates acknowledgements and replies within a preset time period, sending only the most relevant response. For example, if your contact sends you a reply within
two minutes, you won't receive Delivered or Read Notifications - you'll know that your message was delivered and read because you have the reply.

Ideal for work groups and busy executives, Read Acknowledgements close the information loop, giving you unprecedented messaging control.
*SkyTel Read Acknowledgements and Delivered/Read Notifications are available for most SkyTel Advanced Messaging devices and services, including 2Way (SkyWriter®) and Advanced 1Way (SkyWord Plus with Reply). The following 2Way device models are not capable of generating Read Notifications, although they will send Delivered Notifications: Motorola PageWriter 2000 and 2000X, and Glenayre AccessLink I and @ctiveLink Visor modules. When messages are sent via email, receipts will be sent based on the options available in the email client and on the capabilities of the device receiving the email.
